I took backup of oracle 9i user, the size of the dump file is 12 gb and i stored it in a seperate disk .While compressing the dmp file, system shows an error "segmentation fault" . The disk having free space 15 gb. Operating System of my server is linux (Red HAt linux). How do i solve this error and how can i compress the dmp file

As this not an Oracle-related error, the topic is locked.

Don't compress a file that is in used.
