Hello,

I am a french DBA.
All my servers are under W2K.
I want to migrate some of them under LINUX or UNIX.
I am looking for a test betwenn LINUX (or UNIX) and W2K, to explain to my boss why it's better under LINUX.

Thank you for your help

Hi,

In my humble opinion -

Linux:

- open;
- OS costs nothing;
- Much more stable and scalable; and
- Intended for use by experienced IT professionals.

MS-Windows:

- proprietary;
- don't allow consumer choice;
- will make Billy-boy even richer; and
- Intended for the computer illiterate masses.

The choice is thus obvious... Also see http://people.freebsd.org/~andreas/unix-vs-nt/

Best regards.

Frank
