What are the general steps for putting a Linux box on a network IP address.

Hi,

Login as root then goto System Settings -> Network, double click on the interface card, enter the valid IP info including subnet mask, gateway etc and restart the system or just restart the network service by command:

service network restart

and you would be a part of the network.
