Dear Friends,

Can we have our primary and standby databases on same Oracle release 8.1.7.4 but on different Linux vresions and different filesystem. For example

Primary Database Oracle 8.1.7.4 on Redhat 6.2 (ext2), and standby Oracle 8.1.7.4 on RedHat enterprise linux As 2.1 (ext3 ) ?

Regards and thanks ,

Hi,

Well according to me it will not work bcz to create the standby database first you have to copy the files from your primary database to your standby location and your standby server's OS should be able to understand the file structure of that files.

It is clearly mentioned in oracle doc also that the os and db of primary and standby sites must be same.

Daljit Singh.
